The story
Behind the HODL tee
Hold On for Dear Life. The HODL bitcoin t-shirt is a badge of honor for long-term believers who’ve seen the dips and held anyway.
HODL started as a typo. In 2013, during a sharp drop in the bitcoin price, a member of the BitcoinTalk forum posted a rambling thread titled “I AM HODLING,” admitting he was a bad trader and would simply hold instead of selling. Readers loved the honesty and the misspelling, and the word spread through memes within days. The “Hold On for Dear Life” meaning was attached afterward, a backronym that fits the spirit of riding out volatility.
Wear it on the days the chart is red. It works at the gym, on a hike or at a meetup where everyone recognizes the word on sight. The heavy lettering is loud from a distance, so expect questions from people outside crypto too. A safe gift for any long-term holder.

About this design
What does HODL stand for?
Originally nothing at all: it was a misspelling of “hold” in a 2013 forum post. The community later gave it the meaning “Hold On for Dear Life.” Either way, it means keeping your bitcoin through the ups and downs instead of selling.
Why is the O in HODL replaced by a coin?
Putting the orange bitcoin coin where the O belongs merges the word with the thing being held, so the graphic tells the whole joke. It is also the only spot of color, which pulls the eye straight to the middle of the print.
What sizes does the HODL shirt come in?
It is a unisex tailored crew neck offered in XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL. If the size turns out wrong, an unworn, unwashed tee can be exchanged for another size of the same design within 30 days; you pay the shipping.
