The story
Behind the Trick or Sats tee
Kids ask for candy, but bitcoiners would rather find sats in the bag. This Halloween tee swaps the treat for the smallest unit of bitcoin and keeps the costume simple.
Halloween has an extra meaning for bitcoiners. On October 31, 2008, the bitcoin white paper was shared on a cryptography mailing list, so every trick-or-treat night is also its anniversary. A sat, short for satoshi, is one hundred millionth of a bitcoin, small enough that a pile of them would fit in any candy bag. Put the two together and the classic doorstep chant gets a bitcoin twist. The pumpkin stays uncarved and friendly, more harvest patch than horror movie.
A no-effort costume for office Halloween parties, trick-or-treat duty with the kids and October meetups. Black and orange are already the colors of the season, so it fits right in, and the pumpkin keeps it fun for all ages. It carries into November for harvest gatherings too.

Will Trick or Sats arrive in time for Halloween?

Is the bitcoin white paper really connected to Halloween?
Yes, by date. Satoshi Nakamoto announced the white paper on a cryptography mailing list on October 31, 2008. Bitcoiners enjoy the coincidence, and many mark the paper's anniversary and Halloween together, with costumes, pumpkins and a few sats passed around.
Why is the pumpkin not carved into a jack-o'-lantern?
