The story

Behind the New Year, Same Supply tee

Resolutions change every January, but bitcoin's supply schedule doesn't. This New Year tee pops a cork for the one thing nobody can quietly revise.

Bitcoin's rules set the total supply at just under 21 million coins. New coins are paid to miners with each block, and that payout is cut in half every 210,000 blocks, roughly every four years, with the next halving expected around April 2028. The final fractions should be mined around 2140. Every node checks those rules, so the calendar can flip as often as it likes and the schedule stays put. Conveniently, the network also celebrates its own birthday on January 3.

Made for New Year's Eve parties, January meetups and the genesis block anniversary two days after New Year's Day. The popping bottle feels festive without glitter or party hats, and the joke works at midnight or at brunch the next morning. A clever gift for holders who love a toast.

Questions

About this design

What does same supply mean on this shirt?

It refers to bitcoin's fixed issuance. No matter how many years go by, the total that will ever exist stays capped just under 21 million coins, and the release schedule doesn't change at New Year or any other time. That steadiness is both the joke and the point.

Why do bitcoiners care so much about a capped supply?

Most currencies can be issued in larger amounts whenever their central bank decides. Bitcoin's issuance follows public rules that every node enforces, so holders know in advance how many coins can exist. Supporters see that as its key feature. This is background, not financial advice.

Is the champagne bottle tied to a particular brand?

No. It is a generic bottle with a blank label, drawn in orange with the cork mid-flight. There is no brand name or logo anywhere on the design, just the universal picture of a celebration getting started.
