Every bitcoin block sits on top of the one before it, which makes a Christmas tree surprisingly easy to build. This tee turns a classic carol into a blockchain joke.
The pun comes from O Tannenbaum, a German folk song whose best-known lyrics were written by Ernst Anschütz in 1824 and which English speakers sing as O Christmas Tree. In bitcoin, a block is a bundle of confirmed transactions, and each new one is stacked on the previous block, forming the chain that gives blockchain its name. Draw that stack in the shape of a tree, put a star on top, and the carol practically rewrites itself. The tune has been in the public domain for generations.
Ideal for a tech team's holiday party, a December hackathon or a family dinner with one curious engineer. The block tree is clever without being loud, and the two lines of type are short enough to read across the room. Developers and puzzle fans tend to get it first.
Plan on about 2 weeks of delivery time for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and US territories, on top of the usual 3 to 4 business days to print and ship. Continental US addresses usually take about 5 days after shipping. These are typical times, not guarantees.
A bitcoin blockchain is literally blocks stacked one on another, each pointing back to the one before it. Building the tree from squares turns that structure into a holiday decoration, and you could call the star on top the newest block in the stack.
Not at all. Anyone who knows the carol will smile at the swap of tree for block, and the stacked-square tree looks festive on its own. Bitcoiners simply get a second layer: each square is a block, and the chain grows one at a time.
