Bitcoin's founding year, marked the way old brands mark theirs. This tee pairs a large orange Bitcoin symbol with a simple date stamp for a clean, timeless look.
Bitcoin's first block, the genesis block, was mined on January 3, 2009, and the software was released to the public a few days later, so 2009 is the year the network began. The symbol on this shirt descends from the B with two short strokes that Satoshi Nakamoto shared in February 2010, when he released his bitcoin images into the public domain. The rightward tilt comes from a version a forum member called bitboy posted later that year, also offered freely.
A clean, logo-style shirt that suits the office, travel days and anyone who prefers one strong graphic to a slogan. The founding date gives it a heritage feel, like a vintage athletic tee. It makes a safe first bitcoin shirt for someone who likes to keep things simple.
The white paper describing bitcoin appeared on October 31, 2008, but the network itself started with the genesis block on January 3, 2009. Est. marks when something began operating, so 2009 is the founding year in the sense this design means.
Satoshi Nakamoto released the early bitcoin images into the public domain in February 2010, and the tilted orange style that followed was offered on the same terms. No company owns the symbol. This is background information rather than legal advice.
It is short for established, the word companies, towns and sports clubs put next to their founding year. Using it for bitcoin is a playful nod to that tradition, for a network with no company or headquarters behind it at all.
